Shimon Sarraf became NSSE’s Assistant Director for Survey Operations & Project Services in January 2011 after serving the project for six years as a research analyst. Prior to joining NSSE, Sarraf worked in the Office of Institutional Research at Indiana University Bloomington for five years where he managed and used longitudinal databases to help inform retention and financial aid policy.
Sarraf’s work has answered questions related to the student-athlete and transfer experience, civic engagement, predictive validity of NSSE scales, benefits of learning community participation, conducting NSSE multi-year analyses, contextualizing NSSE effect sizes, weighting procedures and using SPSS to automate office reporting. Shimon has shared his findings and expertise at various national conferences, including the Association for Institutional Research, Assessment Institute, and Association for the Study of Higher Education.
He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s in Public Affairs from Indiana University Bloomington.
Job Duties: provide general oversight for NSSE survey operations and project services and conduct research about survey methods.
